On today’s menu: the very essence of the 1980s! Instruments from this era are the reason Japanese guitars earned such a stellar reputation. Back then, Japan was making basses so good that people often claimed they were better than the originals they were modelled after 🙂 Maybe because they really were that good… or maybe because mid-80s quality from across the ocean took a noticeable dip 😉
Anyway — here we’ve got a solid alder body paired with a maple neck and a rosewood fingerboard. Everything finished in sleek black, very much in the style of a Fender Precision Bass Special. The tuners are impressive too: the biggest, heaviest, and most bombproof you can find! The bridge is a classic vintage steel unit with brass saddles.
Electronics come in the form of a ceramic P + J pickup set, giving you more tonal options than a standard P. With both pickups engaged, you get that aggressive, mid-scooped growl everyone loves. Passive controls: 2× volume and tone — simple and effective!
For an instrument that’s around 40 years old, it’s in very solid condition. A few dings and chips here and there, nothing dramatic — just honest playwear. It wasn’t abused, just used.
Technically everything works perfectly, and after our little guitar SPA session, it plays like a dream.

Fender Jazz Bass straight from a solid Japanese factory! And you could say it’s vintage – it’s got 30 years under its belt. The bass is in really excellent condition: it doesn’t show its age at all. There are some minor signs of use, but nothing that spoils the overall impression this instrument makes.
The Fender is quite lightweight, with a linden body, and the neck is super slim and smooth to the touch thanks to the satin finish. Nut width is 38 mm, C profile with 9.5″ radius and medium jumbo frets. Bone nut, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard.
The bass features fully original, solid Gotoh hardware and ceramic pickups. Pickguard (plate) replaced with a new one (want a different one? Just write). Tonally very vintage: lots of midrange, soft non-piercing highs, and warm lows. It does everything a solid Jazz Bass should!

This is a model from the „The Function” series, inspired by the classic Gibson Explorer shape, but with Japanese FujiGen Gakki craftsmanship that makes it lighter and more ergonomic than American counterparts. A true vintage Strat-style guitar from Greco, built in Japan in the late 70s / early 80s. It features a beautiful ash body and a maple neck — it even appears to be burl maple. A fantastic foundation for a classic, solid Strat tone.
The guitar is finished in an amber-tinted clear coat. It comes equipped with alnico pickups, a bridge with a large, heavy block, and steel saddles. The electronics are fully passive: 1x Volume, 2x Tone and a 3-way pickup selector. Importantly, the guitar has brand new frets, so you won’t have to worry about this considerable expense for many years. The pickup covers and plastics have naturally aged with great character, developing a tasteful creamy hue.
Overall, you’re getting a truly solid Strat with excellent hardware. The tuners are the only part that’s simply “OK” (and could be upgraded now or later in our workshop), while everything else is “super.” This is not one of those vintage guitars that needs half its components replaced just to be playable — all the usual old-guitar issues have already been taken care of.
