A solid Japanese Fender P-Bass from the 1990s (30-year-old vintage!). The bass is very well cared for and has been through our guitar “spa” – technically everything works perfectly and it looks fresh and clean.
The bass is fairly lightweight (under 4 kg), with a light basswood body and a maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard. The body has a high-gloss finish, while the neck is finished in satin lacquer that has naturally yellowed over time, giving it a vintage character. Thanks to this, the neck feels smooth and fast, with no sticky feeling.
All hardware is factory original Gotoh – tuners, bridge, pickups, etc. Passive electronics: volume + tone. The pickguard has been replaced with a black one. If you prefer a different color, just let me know – no problem to find another one 🙂
Despite being 30 years old, the bass has very few dings and scratches. No large or ugly chips, only minor signs of use. The truss rod works perfectly, the neck is straight. Frets have been leveled and dressed, the nut adjusted. The finish and hardware have been polished, the fingerboard and electronics cleaned and conditioned. Finally, a new output jack and Fender 45–105 strings were installed.

Raw, effective, full of character.
These three words describe this bass perfectly. For a moment I seriously considered keeping it for myself (first time I’ve said that in years 😂).
This is the first Boxer of this kind we’ve ever had in stock. I really love its simplicity – in tone, construction and looks: pure black & white. Even the fingerboard is so dark it’s basically black.
And the best part? This bass is over 40 years old and looks so good it’s hard to believe.
It now features an upgraded Gotoh Alnico 5 pickup with enamel-coated coil, vulcanized bobbin and cotton-insulated wiring. Tonally it’s very close to a Fender Custom Shop ’60 Precision Bass – Vintage, but with a bit of extra steroids: noticeably more low-end and a more aggressive, cutting top end. These pickups are no longer available.
The rest is classic Boxer DNA:

One of my favorite Japanese basses. This instrument features many ergonomic and well-thought-out design solutions that in no way conflict with the classic “vintage” bass philosophy. It makes playing easier, offers a very wide tonal palette, and at the same time can deliver a truly old-school, classic bass sound.
What do I mean by “ergonomic solutions”?
Contoured pickups – the pickup covers are rounded on the top. This results in more even string-to-string volume, and the pickup housing itself works perfectly as a ramp. Both pickups share this profile.
Coil-configuration switches – two switches allow different coil wiring options. One setting delivers a classic Precision-style “bell-like” tone, while the other produces a more modern sound, slightly in the direction of a Music Man. Both pickups have their own switching options.
Unusual neck pickup design – the magnet layout is similar to a P-Bass, but the coils span the full width of the pickup. A thinner 0.05 mm wire (instead of the typical 0.06 mm) allows for more windings. As a result, despite the large magnets, the pickup does not sound muddy (unlike, for example, a Seymour Duncan SPB-3). It remains very articulate, with a solid low end and a well-balanced frequency response.
Bridge pickup – tap-coil design – two coils on a single bobbin, also switchable between two wiring options. In addition, the pickups can be combined in various configurations, further expanding the tonal possibilities.
Bridge & construction
The bridge is worth mentioning as well — essentially a Japanese take on the “BadAss” style bridge. Made of zamak (just like the original BadAss), and likely even heavier. The bridge is recessed into the body, contributing to excellent sustain.

This is a factory-equipped instrument done right: smart wood selection, a massive bridge, excellent Alnico pickups, precise neck-to-body fit, and oil-bath tuners. There is absolutely nothing here that needs upgrading or replacing. In this price range, it’s a real killer deal. Highly recommended.

A bass with huge character in a spectacular colorway! A real hornet 🐝
The original (extremely thick) factory finish was removed, then a new undercoat and nitro lacquer were applied in a bold yellow color. The body is made of mahogany with an alder top and back. A maple neck with black block inlays and binding perfectly completes the look.
The headstock features large, heavy tuners, while on the other side you’ll find a classic vintage-style bridge and two passive single-coil pickups with ceramic magnets. Passive electronics in a 2× Volume + Tone configuration.
The instrument has been tastefully aged, with original patina preserved on the hardware. Beyond the visual appeal, the bass is fully serviced and ready to play, prepared in our workshop, which has specialized in Japanese instruments for over 15 years.

On today’s menu: the very essence of the 1980s! Instruments from this era are the reason Japanese guitars earned such a stellar reputation. Back then, Japan was making basses so good that people often claimed they were better than the originals they were modelled after 🙂 Maybe because they really were that good… or maybe because mid-80s quality from across the ocean took a noticeable dip 😉
Anyway — here we’ve got a solid alder body paired with a maple neck and a rosewood fingerboard. Everything finished in sleek black, very much in the style of a Fender Precision Bass Special. The tuners are impressive too: the biggest, heaviest, and most bombproof you can find! The bridge is a classic vintage steel unit with brass saddles.
Electronics come in the form of a ceramic P + J pickup set, giving you more tonal options than a standard P. With both pickups engaged, you get that aggressive, mid-scooped growl everyone loves. Passive controls: 2× volume and tone — simple and effective!
For an instrument that’s around 40 years old, it’s in very solid condition. A few dings and chips here and there, nothing dramatic — just honest playwear. It wasn’t abused, just used.
Technically everything works perfectly, and after our little guitar SPA session, it plays like a dream.

Fender Jazz Bass reissue from 1962, in a spectacular Ocean Turquoise Metallic finish with a headstock matched to the body color!
The guitar’s body is made of alder, the neck is maple with a rosewood fingerboard, C-shaped profile, 7.25” radius, and 38 mm width at the nut.
The bass is equipped with Gotoh GB-10 tuners, bone nut, ceramic Fender pickups, vintage-style Gotoh bridge, and passive electronics (2x volume + tone).
The axe is in really great condition – even though it was made almost 20 years ago (in 1997), no major flaws, just minor signs of use.
Pickguard replaced with a new one – if you want a different one, let me know!
Tonally, it’s what you’d expect from a Japanese Fender: pure class, juicy highs, punchy mids, and warm lows.
