Sercem instrumentu jest Curtis Novak Wide Range Humbucker, made in USA — wierna replika przetwornika z Fender Telecaster Bass z lat 70. Tutaj zamontowaliśmy go w pozycji zbliżonej do Precla, żeby całość miała trochę więcej środka i czytelniejszy atak.
Jeśli DiMarzio Model One kojarzy się komuś z grubym, ciężkim basowym soundem, to tutaj idziemy jeszcze bardziej w stronę masy i gęstości.
Gryf to jeden kawałek klonu, z profilem C, bindingiem i prostokątnymi markerami z macicy perłowej.

Buzz Wasp is a custom bass from our workshop and, at the moment, the only instrument we have built around such a rare and highly regarded pickup. This is not another polite, all-purpose Jazz or Precision style bass. It has a very specific character: fat, sticky, heavy and strongly focused on the low end.
The heart of this instrument is a Curtis Novak Wide Range Humbucker, made in the USA — a faithful recreation of the pickup used in the 1970s Fender Telecaster Bass. Here it is mounted closer to the Precision Bass position to add a bit more midrange and a clearer attack. Sonically, the low end and low mids dominate, while the treble stays more in the background. There is still some freshness from the new strings, but this is definitely not a bright, clanky bass.
If a DiMarzio Model One feels like a thick and heavy bass pickup, this one goes even further into mass and density. Buzz Wasp is not a do-it-all instrument, and it does not try to be one. It will feel most at home in reggae, dub, slow heavy music, fuzz and overdrive experiments, or anywhere the bass is supposed to create a thick, sticky foundation rather than politely sit in the back of the mix.
The body is made of alder and finished in an aged green relic finish. The ageing is done with restraint — there are wear marks, scratches and signs of use, but without turning it into an overdone fake-relic showpiece. The result is raw, functional and very distinctive.
The pickguard is made of genuine celluloid. This is not a printed pattern or a flat imitation — the material has depth, and its layers reflect light differently depending on the viewing angle. It works very well with the green body and the brushed stainless steel control plate that holds the electronics.
The neck is made from one piece of maple, with a C profile, binding and rectangular mother-of-pearl inlays. Nut width is 38 mm, and the scale length is the classic 34 inches. The headstock is fitted with large Gotoh GB-640 tuners, the nut is made of bone, and the bridge is a Gotoh Vintage unit.
The electronics are fully passive and built with proper components: CTS pots, Gavitt wire and a Pure Tone jack socket. A simple circuit, with no unnecessary additions — everything is focused around this particular pickup and its character.
The instrument has been fully prepared for playing at Restauracja Gitar. It has fresh Ernie Ball strings, low action and a full setup, so it is ready to plug in and play.
